Series 5 to get its first airing on channel

London 28 April 2005. In a deal brokered by BBC Worldwide, UKTV Gold has signed a deal for all episodes of leading independent DLT Entertainment’s hit BBC sitcom My Family announced DLT’s Vice President Don Taffner Jr.

The fifth series of the popular programme has been picked up by UKTV Gold and will get its first transmission on the channel on May 14th. It joins the first four series, which begin airing this month and are licensed until October 2008. This three-year deal follows the success series 1-4 enjoyed when they previously aired.

Produced by DLT Entertainment UK, in association with Rude Boy Productions for BBC One, My Family was created by Fred Barron, stars highly acclaimed actors Robert Lindsay and Zoë Wanamaker, and is written by a team of writers headed by James Hendrie and Ian Brown.

My Family focuses on the life of Ben Harper, a moderately successful family man and dentist. He is also undergoing a mid-life crisis and trying to cope with the bizarre reality of raising his three, very different, teenage children. Ben Harper was most recently seen trading in his wife Susan, for Nell McAndrew on Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day 2005.

DLT Entertainment has the worldwide format rights to the series and BBC Worldwide and DLT jointly handle finished programme sales.

Donald Taffner Jr says: “My Family continues to draw a dedicated fan base and it is a testimony to the show’s popularity that UKTV Gold has extended its license until 2008.”

Simon Danker, Director of UK & Ireland Sales at BBC Worldwide added: “My Family continues to attract strong audiences for UKTV Gold and this new deal for both new series and the entire back catalogue shows how successful the programme remains in the UK.”
