Nicholas Quinn (Sheperd) and Bruce Morton (Wilson) are facing up to the challenge of global capitalism by fighting among themselves. Bruce has "risen through the ranks" to become the Managing Director of an investment bank, while Nicholas has spent most of his working life in the Civil Service. He has now left his Treasury job to become the new Chairman of the bank. While Nicholas regards Bruce as a challenge to be dealt with by employing his considerable interpersonal skills, Bruce regards as a challenge to his sanity.
