MY FAMILY NAMED MOST POPULAR COMEDY PROGRAMME AT NATIONAL TELEVISION AWARDS 2003

Picks up second major award voted for by British public

(London November 3, 2003) Following hot on the heels of its TV Quick Award win, leading independent production and distribution company DLT Entertainment has won the coveted Most Popular Comedy Programme award for My Family at this years’ prestigious National Television Awards.

DLT Entertainment picked up the much sought-after award at a glittering ceremony held on 28 October, beating off stiff competition from comedy shows including Friends, Cold Feet and long-running series Last of the Summer Wine. The National Television Awards are considered one of the most important in the UK’s awards calendar as they are voted for by the British TV viewing public and are attended by the cream of British acting talent and celebrity.

My Family is the UK’s favourite sitcom, and the BBC’s most successful home-grown hit of recent years. During the broadcast of its fourth season, which ended in August this year, it regularly attracted a 35% share with an audience of nine million in a Friday night primetime slot on BBC One. DLT Entertainment has also been commissioned by the BBC to produce brand new episodes for transmission next year and has recently sold the format rights to Germany and Poland.

Produced by DLT Entertainment UK in association with Rude Boy Productions for BBC ONE, My Family is created by Fred Barron, written by a team of writers and stars highly acclaimed actors Robert Lindsay and Zöe Wanamaker.

My Family focuses on the life of Ben Harper, a moderately successful family man and dentist. He is also undergoing a mid-life crisis and trying to cope with the bizarre reality of raising his three, very different, teenage children.

Donald Taffner Jr, Vice President DLT Entertainment says: ”It is great that My Family is winning the accolades its deserves and we are delighted that it has won a second major award. Producing a show which appeals to a wide audience continues to be our priority so it is particularly rewarding to have won an award voted for by the public. We are looking forward to starting production on the new series I the UK and working with broadcasters in Germany and Poland on their local versions”
