Kokoda: The Bloody Track

Japanese survivors of the infamous battle for the Kokoda Track, the turning point in their attempt to conquer Australia fifty years ago, speak out for the first time. “We were the first to interview the Japanese veterans of the campaign and their hitherto untold stories are chillingly honest” says Patrick Lindsay, who wrote, directed and produced KOKODA

For the Australian Army. They told us if we’d tried to interview them even five years ago, they would not have spoken. But they’re now in their mid-seventies and feeling mortal and realize if they don’t speak now, it will be too late.

“The battles along the Track form some of the most remarkable deeds of the War. The Australians were continuously outnumbered five and six to one. The initial actions were fount by 110 diggers with an average age of eighteen and a half against 2,000 Japanese invaders. At the height of the campaign, 13,500 Japanese troops tried to force their way across the Track.
