Chicken Soup For The Soul

Chicken Soup for the Soul is a dramatic series that gently illustrates applicable solutions to real life situations. Produced by Vin Di Bona (America's Funniest Home Videos) and based on the world famous books, Chicken Soup for the Soul offers effective tools for modern life within an entertaining, extremely popular format. Since it's inception in 1993, Chicken Soup for the Soul has sold more than 54 million books, appealing to a huge audience, far beyond it's "self-help" genre. Through simple stories, familiar elemental truths the viewer may have forgotten or is just beginning to firmly employ engage the viewer/reader/websurfer without seeming preachy or sentimental. Rather these stories subtly "leave room" for the participant and illuminate their understanding not from without but from within, the moral being learned or remembered with the aid of the often humorous, almost folk-like telling of tales. It is this give and take, respectful style that has made the Chicken Soup brand so well known and so bankable. Over 1 million people subscribe to its website, Soupserver.com, two new books are due in Spring 2001 and 150 key markets carry a syndicated Chicken Soup column.

The TV series contains 3 or 4 vignettes per episode. Populated by warmly recognized stars (Ed Asner, Jack Lemmon, Martin Sheen) and up and coming teen heart-throbs like Scott Whyte (Full House and star of the TNBC series City Guys) who hosts the show, Chicken Soup for the Soul successfully draws 13 to 16 year olds. In 1998 Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul was voted "Favorite Book of the Year" at the Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards..

As the books have become a commonplace fixture in 54 million households, so the TV show and corresponding web community are increasing in recognition. With soaring popularity, it's universal appeal and recognized, distinguished and beloved brand, Chicken Soup for the Soul is a bankable, valuable asset to any programming lineup.
