Gwen Taylor (A Bit of a Do, Duty Free) stars as Barbara Liversidge, a monster of a woman with a tongue sharper than a chainsaw, which she unleashes at the slightest provocation. She dominates her family - and patients at the doctor's surgery where she works as a receptionist with Doreen (Madge Hindle - Pat and Margaret.)

Sam Kelly (Cold Feet, Holding On) is Barbara's husband Ted, a mild-mannered obsessive who drives a cab and everyone else mad.

Along with their children Neil (Benedict Sandiford - Wilde), a lippy layabout who works as a barman, and Linda (Liz Carling - Goodnight Sweetheart), a neurotic market researcher, and Linda's husband Martin (Mark Benton - Kiss Me Kate, Preston Front), they struggle heroically with all that modern city life has to throw at them. But despite Barbara's best efforts, the rule of thumb in the Liversidge household is that whatever can go wrong, always does.
