The Magnificent Welles

THE MAGNIFICENT WELLES is a one-man performance, which is both a memoir of Orson Welles' amazing career, and a chronicle of his efforts to recapture control of his film, “The Magnificent Ambersons.” The show captures Welles in his South American hotel room as he slowly realizes that his masterpiece "The Magnificent Ambersons" is slipping away.

"Citizen Kane" rocked Orson Welles into boy genius Hollywood stardom. Only in his mid 20s, he was given a complete artistic control over his next film, the movie he thought was certain to be his masterpiece. Instead, the trajectory of his career spiraled down from then on.

Marcus Wolland, who bears a remarkable resemblance to Welles, deftly impersonates the character. The Seattle Times says, “Wolland… turns the show into a genuine tour de force.”
