The Agatha Christie Hour

These dramas based on the short stories of Agatha Christie are adapted for television by some of the leading talents of British TV writing today. The list of stories includes romantic, light comedies, occult thrillers, and spine-chilling mysteries. All share Agatha Christie’s flair for plot and timing -- and all are set in the timeless period of the Twenties and Thirties which characterized her classic "whodunnits".

Included in this series of one-hour stories are "The Mystery of the Blue Jar", a ghostly tale of a young man who hears a phantom cry for help on the golf links ; "In a Glass Darkly" sees young Matthew experiencing a horrific vision of his beloved Sylvia being strangled by a scarred stranger, and years later, the terrible truth is revealed; "The Fourth Man" shows Annette and Felicie on the night-train from London wondering if a girl could strangle herself; a madcap night of glamour and delight shapes "The Manhood of Edward Robinson" and the reaction of Edward’s down-to-earth fiance; and in "The Case of the Discontented Soldier" a retired Army major finally discovers happiness, thanks to Parker Pyne.

THE AGATHA CHRISTIE HOUR bears all the hallmarks of quality production values, witty scripts, inspired casting, and deft storylines. In reproducing the exact atmosphere and feel of Christie’s original tales, the series remains a delightful, thrilling excursion into an England gone by.
