Hit animated series Teddy Ruxpin returns to the international market

London 30 July 2004: Leading independent production and distribution company DLT Entertainment is bringing the hit 80’s animated classic The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin back to the small screen. All 65 x 30’ episodes of the enduringly popular series will be available to international buyers at MIPCOM 2004.

The cel animated series follows Teddy Ruxpin and his friends Grubby and Dr Newton Gimmick on their quest to find the hidden treasure of Grundo in “The Hard to Find City.” Along the way the curious trio find six magical crystals, which unbeknownst to them give their possessors absolute power. These crystals bring Teddy and his friends into the path of the evil and power-hungry Monsters and Villains. Each episode sees the trio visit exciting cities where they meet interesting and unusual creatures and pit their wits against their foes.

The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin differs from most children’s programmes as it narrates one continuous story rather than featuring stand-alone episodes. Each half hour shares the common themes of adventure and friendship and teaches children about accepting and appreciating those who are different.

When the series first aired, it held six top ten positions in Billboard's Home Video charts and won a VSDA (Video Software Dealers Association) Award for the Best Non-Movie Children's Program.

DLT Entertainment holds full international rights to the series, produced by DiC and Alchemy II, and will be distributing The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin alongside its other animated properties Going Buggs!, Animated Classics and Little Big Mouth.

Don Taffner Jr, Vice President of DLT Entertainment, said: “Teddy Ruxpin had a whole generation glued to their TV screens when it was first on air and we have no doubt that it will prove as popular with today’s youngsters. It is fantastic to be bringing such a cult hit back to the international market.”
