Complete Series Sold to MTV Germany

London, UK, 1 August 2005: Leading independent production and distribution company DLT Entertainment has announced a further deal to sell all five series of My Family in the key European territory of Germany. This announcement follows hot on the heels of a similar sale to the MTV owned channel, Paramount Comedy in Italy. Earlier this year, Zoë Wanamaker won a coveted Rose d’Or in the Best Sitcom Actress category for her portrayal of Susan Harper in the comedy.

The multi award-winning sitcom has now been picked up by MTV Networks, Germany, for NICK Comedy, to play in its evening comedy block on the channel. NICK Germany will create local language tracks for the programme to replace the English track. The German channel will begin airing the programme in September.

Donald Taffner Jr., Vice President DLT Entertainment says: “We are delighted to have made this further significant sale to MTV Germany for its NICK Comedy block. The series is already delighting Italian audiences and we are confident that the humour in My Family will also translate very well for audiences in Germany.”

Markus Andorfer, Programme Director NICK Germany comments: “We are very excited about premiering My Family on our new channel in September. The show will complement NICK's broad range of high quality children's programmes and we all have high hopes for its success in Germany."

Produced by DLT Entertainment UK, in association with Rude Boy Productions for BBC ONE, My Family was created by Fred Barron. In addition to award winning star Zoë Wanamaker, the show also stars highly acclaimed actor Robert Lindsay and is written by a team of writers headed by James Hendrie and Ian Brown. During its initial five series run to date on BBC ONE, the show has proved to be one of the broadcaster’s most successful sitcoms, continually winning its Friday night primetime slot and often achieving a significant 35% audience share.

My Family focuses on the life of Ben Harper, a moderately successful family man and dentist. Watch Ben as he struggles through mid-life crisis, his uncanny relationship with wife Susan and tries to cope with the bizarre reality of raising his three, very different, teenage children.

DLT Entertainment has the worldwide format rights to the series and BBC Worldwide and DLT jointly handle finished programme sales. All five series have recently been sold to UKTV Gold in a deal brokered by BBC Worldwide and are currently airing on the channel.
