From the team behind smash hit sitcom My Family, an exciting new comedy pilot for ITV1
The Friday Night Club
Award-winning production and distribution company DLT Entertainment today announced details of their new comedy pilot for ITV1. The Friday Night Club (wt) focuses on the lives of five twenty-somethings who’ve been friends since university and stars Nigel Harman (EastEnders), Sheridan Smith (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps), Sarah Smart (At Home with the Braithwaites) and Rhodri Meilir (My Family).
DLT Entertainment, best known for the classic BBC sitcoms As Time Goes By and My Family, has long been an advocate of US-style ‘table writing’ and The Friday Night Club (wt) will also be written this way. Top creative talent involved include writers William Schifrin and Jordan Hawley (Frasier; 50 Ways To Lose Your Lover) and producers Richard Bowden (2point4 Children; Time Gentlemen Please; Just Shoot Me) and John Bartlett (My Family; As Time Goes By; Goodnight Sweetheart).
Don Taffner Jr, President of DLT Entertainment and Executive Producer, commented today; “This is a hugely exciting pilot with real potential. We have an amazing cast – a couple that you wouldn’t immediately associate with comedy but who really bring something different to the mix – not to mention some fantastic writing and producing names on board. We’re also thrilled to be working with ITV for the first time – all the ingredients are in place and we can’t wait to see the audience reaction.”
The Friday Night Club (wt) was created by William Schifrin and Jordan Hawley. Executive Producers are Don Taffner Jr, William Schifrin and Jordan Hawley. Producers are John Bartlett and Richard Bowden.
This news comes hot on the heels of DLT Entertainment’s recent announcement of the commission of a ninth series of My Family, plus a Christmas Special, highlighting the company’s ongoing success in the comedy genre.
