The Heat Is On:
The Making Of Miss Saigon

For one year, camera crews followed the man many regard as the greatest theatrical producer in the world -- Cameron Mackintosh -- from the inception of his latest production through to the auditions, rehearsals, and, finally, the opening night of what became the hottest show in town.

THE HEAT IS ON follows the trail of how one of Mackintosh’s smash success stories actually happened. Miss Saigon joined productions like Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables in a list of hits which have put Mackintosh’s name on theater marquees all over the world.

The resulting special is an intimate inside look at the making of a blockbuster new musical. It also offers the first chance, behind-the-scenes glimpse of the stars in action, hearing the music, and watching some of the lavish production numbers that contribute to the show’s triumph.
