DLT Expands Production Business

London 10 Octoer 2011. Award-winning production and distribution company DLT Entertainment has appointed Jon Mountague to the newly-created role of Executive Editor.

Mountague started this new role last week and is charged with growing DLT’s out of London production interests in a new, Manchester-based division, focussing primarily on single and multi-camera scripted comedy. He will also develop factual entertainment formats.

Jon, who will report directly to DLT’s President, Don Taffner Jr, previously headed up BBC Comedy North, joining as Producer in 2002 and becoming Executive Producer in 2008. He has produced and executive-produced a huge slate of award-winning shows including the Johnny Vegas hit Ideal and the critically-acclaimed We Are Klang.

Taffner said: “Jon’s pedigree in developing the best in comedy and entertainment is the perfect fit for the DLT brand. Plus, his experience in growing new talent both on and off-screen is exactly what we are looking for as we expand the business in the North of England. We see him as the perfect complement to our team which includes the recently appointed Rohan Acharya (producer of White Van Man) and John Bartlett (producer of MY FAMILY)”. With a background in TV, Radio and Online Comedy, Jon has produced and researched a huge array of scripted comedy and has worked with some of Comedy’s biggest names including: Ruth Jones, Jo Brand, Alan Davies, Clive Anderson and Neil Morrissey.

Mountague began his TV career as a researcher At Ginger Productions, working on the groundbreaking TFI Friday series. He went on to work for a range of broadcasters and production companies including BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Talkback Thames and Mentorn.

Taffner further adds: “Narrative comedy in The UK is enjoying an renaissance with SKY, ITV, BBC, Channel 4, UKTV, and Comedy Central all commissioning programs. This appointment, and a few others we will be announcing shortly, will permit us to develop to the various tastes of the broadcasters and their viewers.”
