DLT Entertainment Picks Up New Drama For UK Broadcasters

Award-Winning Writer Alan Whiting Adapting Drama Series

LONDON Friday 27th May 2016: DLT Entertainment is developing a UK version of the award-winning Argentinian drama Perfidia> following a deal with Swedish distributor Eccho Rights. The scripted format is being adapted by acclaimed British writer Alan Whiting (Wire in the Blood, Half Broken Things, The Scarlet Pimpernel).

The critically acclaimed drama, originally created by Juan Laplace, tells the story of a group of school friends who are enticed by a high risk, high return business deal. But with so much to gain – or lose – their friendship is tested to the limit as greed, suspicion, jealousy and betrayal threatens to tear apart their longstanding amity.

Alan Whiting, who won an RTS Award for The Scarlet Pimpernel and created the award-winning drama The Trials of Jimmy Rose, will adapt the three-part gripping drama for UK audiences.

Announcing the deal, DLT’s President Don Taffner Jr. said: “Perfidia> gripped me right from the start with its combination of evocative human emotion, thrilling plot and unexpected twists and turns. With Alan’s exceptional talent, this will be an unmissable piece of television.”

He added: “This latest development deal is part of DLT Entertainment’s ongoing strategy to bring fresh new formats and ideas to the UK market as we look to develop and invest in our growing drama slate spearheaded by Margaret Enefer.”

Originally produced by Cisne Films for Canal 7 in Argentina, the series has also aired on the Sundance Channel in Spain and Portugal. The series was nominated for five awards in Argentina, winning awards for Best Drama Series and Best Actor.

Nicola Söderlund, managing partner at Eccho Rights, said: "When you think of Latin America drama many people think of the telenovela, but the region also has a growing reputation for high-end dramas. It's wonderful that DLT have recognised the quality of Perfidia> and with a top-class team onboard we are sure the remake will be stunning."

This is the second format deal between DLT Entertainment and Eccho Rights having previously optioned the smash hit Scandinavian drama Nurses.

DLT Entertainment’s Head of Drama, Margaret Enefer, will develop the series alongside Don Taffner Jr.
