Scott Bennett: Blood Sugar Baby
A DLT Entertainment Production for BBC Radio 4 / BBC Sounds - 6:30PM, 5 November 2025
London – November 5, 2025 -- Scott Bennett: Blood Sugar Baby tells the extraordinary true story of Scott and Jemma Bennett’s
infant daughter, Olivia, and her battle with a rare genetic condition. Misdiagnosed at birth, Olivia’s
story follows months of uncertainty, missteps and resilience, culminating in how Scott, following
his dad’s advice to “put a tie on,” challenged the hospital to improve its care.
First-time parents Scott and Jemma are taken from the apparently idyllic world of having a
newborn who sleeps through the night and suddenly plunged into months of misguided
treatments, genetics, bizarre side effects and private jets.
Recorded in Nottingham, where the story took place, this is an emotional show about a critically ill
baby — but it’s also a funny, hopeful one with a happy ending.
The show has already drawn praise from both audiences and medical communities alike. In
telling this story, Scott has helped raise awareness of Congenital Hyperinsulinism (CHI) and the
important work being done by the NHS and the charity Congenital Hyperinsulinism International.

“Thank you to Radio 4. It’s been a privilege to share our family story, and we hope it gives
families in similar situations some comfort and a sense of community,” said Scott and Jemma
Bennett.
Donald Taffner Jr., President of DLT Entertainment, added: “Scott’s story combines humour,
humanity and hope: the exact ingredients that make radio such a powerful storytelling medium.
We’re proud to support this deeply personal piece and to continue expanding DLT’s comedy and
audio portfolio with original voices that move and inspire audiences.”
Scott Bennett: Blood Sugar Baby airs on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
5 November 2025.
