Table Reads: New Comedy Script Showcase
Monkey Barrel 4 - 11:40 AM 40 minutes - August 1 to 24

DLT Entertainment and Monkey Barrel Comedy Present: Script Table Reads at The Fringe.

In true Edinburgh Fringe spirit, DLT Entertainment and Monkey Barrel Comedy have once again teamed up to bring something fresh and exciting to this year’s festival. Every day at The Fringe, a live table read of a brand new comedy script will be performed — brought to life by some of your favorite Fringe performers.

The Defenestration of Prague by Robbie Sunderland - August 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 24
A dark historical farce reimagining the infamous 1618 incident that sparked the Thirty Years' War. With biting wit and absurd twists, the script follows diplomats, rebels, and unwitting bystanders as history spirals out of control—literally out the window.

Vargon Lives by Christopher Stanners - August 5, 7, 13, 14, 15, 16, 22
Once the galaxy’s most feared supervillain, Vargon swaps his lair and henchmen for suburban life, impending fatherhood, and a Skoda. But old habits—and nemeses—die hard. Can love tame his monstrous ways, or will domestic bliss be the deadliest challenge yet? Evil, DIY, and nappies collide in Vargon Lives.

Insufficient Funds by Luna Al-kaisy - August 4, 6, 8, 9
Strapped for cash and drowning in bad luck, besties Ameera and Paisley hatch a ridiculous plan: turn a kids’ soft play into a secret VIP playground for adults. Between pyramid schemes, ball pit chases, and a manager with a vendetta, their quest to pay rent spirals into hilarious chaos.

Signifying Nothing by Tom Tuck & Tim FitzHigham- August 10
Two hapless actors, one care home, and a dangerously unstable wig. As they attempt to stage Macbeth on zero budget and even less talent, everything unravels: limbs, lights, cast members. Featuring bagpipes, fire, and a pensioner on the run, Signifying Nothing is Shakespeare as you've absolutely never asked to see it..

Politician’s Keelie by Craig Stewart Ferguson - August 17, 18, 19, 20, 21
When a Glaswegian burglar breaks into a corrupt politician’s home, blackmail turns to bromance, chaos, and childcare. Now posing as an “advisor,” the intruder charms cops, constituents, and even the ex-wife—while the minister’s career circles the drain. It’s The Odd Couple meets The Thick of It, with added fart jokes.
